“Wolfie’s Quest” Songs

***WOLFIE’S QUEST DATE CHANGE: JANUARY 17TH AT 6PM!!!

Hi Folks!

Hopefully by now you’ve caught wind of the fact that we will be doing a Kindergarten-Fourth grade play! Typically this play takes place in February, but this year, as I’ll be taking a leave of absence to go teach in Southern Vermont for some months (more info to come) the play will go up on JANUARY 17 at 6pm!!! We have plunged into rehearsals in 3rd and 4th grade, and in K-2 we’ve only just begun to talk about it.

I have started making videos of the songs for students to sing along with! You’ll hear the weird computer-version of the pit band playing in the background, this I think will be somewhat helpful to students until we can sing with the real middle school pit band!

I’ll add videos to this page as I finish them. Encourage students (3rd and 4th grade) to look at their scripts as they watch the video to make sure they know when they sing and when they don’t. It also helps visual learners to memorize the lyrics if they have their script. Click the links-it will take you to videos in Google Drive.

Send Me On My Way (Sung by 3rd and 4th graders)

Endless Night  (Sung by the 3rd and 4th graders)

Come Away With Me (Sung by the 4th Grade)

Honey Suckle Rose (Sung by the 3rd Grade)

All You Need Is Love (Sung by the Kindergarten-4th Grade)

Happy Summer Folsom Friends!

Here’s the video we showed on the last day of school at our Celebration of Learning Assembly. Look at those smiles and that laughter. We couldn’t ask for a better community of students, staff, and families. Until next year, have a great summer!

Alice’s Theme!

Hey Folks! This is the final song of Wonderland and it’s sung by the whole cast!
The music is by Danny Elfman. The lyrics are posted below the video.

OH ALICE DEAR WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
SO NEAR, SO FAR OR IN BETWEEN.
WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN?
ALICE, ALICE, PLEASE ALICE.

OH, TELL US ARE YOU BIG OR SMALL?

TO TRY THIS ONE OR TRY THEM ALL
IT’S SUCH A LONG, LONG WAY TO FALL-
ALICE, ALICE, OH ALICE.

HOW CAN YOU KNOW THIS WAY NOT THAT.
YOU CHOOSE THE DOOR YOU CHOOSE THE PATH.
PERHAPS YOU SHOULD BE COMING BACK
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DAY.
AND NOTHING IS QUITE WHAT IT SEEMS.
YOU’RE DREAMING, ARE YOU DREAMING, OH ALICE.

OH HOW WILL YOU FIND YOUR WAY?
(No time for tears today, No time for tears today.)
OH HOW WILL YOU FIND YOUR WAY?
(No time for tears today, No time for tears today.)
ALICE!

Lobster-Quadrille!

This is the Lobster-Quadrille for the 3/4 grade band members, the Gryphon, the Mock Turtle and all of the First Graders!

There is a lot of call and response in this song which was hard to show with just one person, so I’m hoping we can make a video using some of our students soon to make it more clear! But for now, give it a listen!

The Walrus and the Carpenter

Hi Folks!

Here’s your next helpful video for “Wonderland” this is the “Walrus and the Carpenter” sung by Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum, The Walrus, The Carpenter, the Walrus+Carpenter Singers, AND the Kindergarten Oysters!!

For 3/4 graders you should look in your scripts to see which part is which and only sing your parts! We’ll start working on this song in Kindergarten soon, but in the meantime, listen to it with your little oyster!

Don’t forget to practice with the recording of I’m Late!

WONDERLAND!!!

WOW.

Folsom Families, I have done a terrible job of posting on the blog this year. Now that we’ve started our 2017 Kindergarten-Fourth grade production of “Wonderland” I hope to use the blog as a communication tool and a place for students to go to learn music and more!

That being said- here is the first post. This song is for ALL Kindergarten-Fourth graders. It is the first song of the show and it’s called “I’m Late!”

Keep reading for an explanation of this VERY attractive picture.

On Sunday I traveled to Killington to take part in the annual Vermont Music Education Association Conference. It is a two-day event filled with workshops in all areas of music education and attended by SO many of Vermont’s amazing music teachers. It’s my favorite time of the year because I get to connect with my best friends from college who now teach all over the state, connect with my former mentor teachers from all over the state, connect with my music teachers from elementary, middle, and high school, and meet new teachers-ALL WHILE LEARNING COOL NEW STUFF TO BRING BACK TO FOLSOM!

On Sunday evening my friend Lizzy Carlson who teaches down in Waterbury and I held a Folk-Dance workshop where we taught about 25 music teachers circle dances, contra dances, Sicilian circle dances, square dances, and mixer dances. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. It’s totally nerve-wracking to teach other teachers though. We were overjoyed with the rockstars who turned out for the event, we had so much fun swinging, do-si-doing, sashaying, and more!

The most exciting news for me, and for Folsom was that I was named Vermont’s Outstanding New Music Teacher of the Year for 2016! This is an award given to a teacher in their first 5 years of service, voted on first by the various music districts in Vermont, and then finally by the board of VT Music Ed. It is a tremendous honor, I am so proud to bring this back to Folsom. I’ve been trying to find adequate language to thank my students, but it’s hard without getting too emotional. I owe it all to the Folsom Musicians, their families, my tremendous colleagues here, and the incredible music teachers that have shaped me throughout the course of my life. Thank you all so much, I am a happy and lucky girl.

AND NOW…we get to keep a ridiculously large trophy in our case for the school year!

2016 Folsom K-4 Presents “Peter Pan!”

DSC_0585Thanks to the Tremble family for this beautiful picture, more to come! (If you have pics you’d like to share on the blog, let me know!)

It’s here finally, our 2016 production of J. M. Barrie’s “Peter Pan.”
I feel so grateful to so many people- the incredible families who brought snacks, made costumes, helped with rehearsals, brought in props, helped build sets, delivered and picked up kiddos to and from rehearsals and SO. MUCH. MORE.
I’m also so grateful and indebted to the team of Middle Schoolers who worked on this show. From our wonderful Assistant Director Holly, to our brilliant Set Designer Kayla, to our very competent Running Crew, and our extremely talented Pit Band. WOW. How can I say thank you enough? Is it okay to ask you all to never graduate? Or at least ask you to make sure you train the folks coming up the ranks?

Thank you to Dylan Degree for filming our production, please share with your loved ones who couldn’t make it to our show.
